Chenin Blanc 2023 - Case of 6 Wines
TASTING NOTES
The Chenin Blanc shows freshly cut winter melon that flows to ripe freshly cut pear served with a hint of lime zest and sweet sunrise grapefruit aromas.
The palate entrance is smooth and elegant and complemented by sweet grapefruit concentration that adds depth and length of flavour. The wine carries a gunflint minerally note indicative of the concrete exposure the wine enjoyed. The finish is smooth and elegant.
WINEMAKING NOTES
The Chenin Blanc fruit is hand-sorted and whole-bunch pressing follows to ensure a more elegant mouth feel in the wine. After pressing 15% of the cloudy juice is left to undergo natural fermentation that adds texture to the final blend. The balanced of juice is cleaned and split between stainless steel and concrete tanks. A pure yeast culture is employed to ensure the purity of fruit in both vessels. Lees stirring is done on all 3 batches to help build palate depth.
VINEYARD NOTES
The Chenin Blanc fruit is grown in the Paarl wine region. The fruit is selected from 2 sections in the same vineyard block, cultivated on Table Mountain sandstone and decomposed granite soils. All vines are trellised and cultivated under dryland conditions. Our fruit is handpicked in 20kg picking crates to ensure the fruit reaches the cellar intact and in perfect condition.
FOOD PAIRING
The Chenin Blanc 2023 will be the ideal companion to a rich coconut curry with lentils and oven-baked pumpkin.
